Professor Dean began training in Japan at the age of 16. After decades of commitment, he holds the following ranks:

  • 4th Degree Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
  • 3rd Degree Black Belt in Japanese Jujutsu
  • 1st Degree Black Belt in Kodokan Judo
  • 1st Degree Black Belt in Aikikai Aikido

A gifted educator, Professor Dean is a globally recognized instructor with over 35 years of experience and insights.

His video library is cinematic and his work on YouTube have inspired a generation of martial artists around the world.

Dean has competed and won at the highest levels, and his students have gone even farther, with affiliated academies around the world.

He continues to be a student of Roy Harris (7th dan), and is recognized as a 4th degree black belt by the International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation (IBJJF).
