I began training in Japan at sixteen. This seminar was a homecoming.
Over two days in Takamatsu, I taught a group of dedicated students in one of the most beautiful training halls I've ever stepped into. This is the complete seminar: every technique, every detail, every connection between them. It was filmed and edited the way all my work is, as something you'll want to watch again.
Day 1 builds from the elbow pass and single leg into armdrags, back takes and top control, finishing with the Braulio chest pin and its Japanese jujutsu counterpart, mune osae dori. Between the days, we leave the mat for Yashima Plateau and Ritsurin Garden, a quiet pause before the work resumes. Day 2 turns to the guard and its connections: sweeps, a knee cut pass, a chain of chokes and armlocks built into one continuous sequence, and the advanced hip bump sweep.
It closes with a brown belt crucible, the test itself, unscored, as it sounded on the mat, and the short film A Warrior's Way Home.
