Black Belt Crucibles Volume 2 shows six different visions of what black belt looks like in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, each shaped by the practitioner's own background in ninjutsu, judo, Thai boxing, and Aikido. It's for anyone who wants to see a real black belt demonstration and find inspiration for their own path in jiu jitsu.

6 Inspiring Visions of Black Belts in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu are now available to you.

These legendary crucibles, or black belt demonstrations, that these men have chosen to experience are technically challenging, physically demanding, and uniquely expressive.

The format is simple:  Mount Escapes, sidemount escapes, sweeps, guard passes, takedowns, and 10 combinations.  Then 4 rounds of sparring.

Each demonstration is unique.  Each one captures the spirit of the practitioner.  Some are steady, and relentless.  Others are flowing and patient.  All are pushed to their limit in a display of courage and heart.

Black Belt 1: Hardee Merritt, showcases a smooth blend of standing to groundwork transitions influenced by his mastery of classical ninjutsu training.

Black Belt 2: Chris Mikuta, also a black belt in Judo, faces a position by position recreation of my second-degree exam, and a straight to sparring approach.  The original Crucible format.

Black Belt 3: Devin Henry, in a never before seen video, shows the skills of a martial artist with exceptional movement and control.  Filmed at high elevation in the mountains of Wyoming, for extra challenge.

Black Belt 4: Alex Paredes, a police officer, shows grit and relentless determination in his black belt demonstration.  New school movements are mixed with self-defense techniques.

Black Belt 5: Devin Turner, a former pro MMA fighter, showcases beautiful combinations of modern and classic techniques, with a tip of the hat to Thai Boxing too.  You'll rewatch this one many times.

Black Belt 6: Ray Feliciano, also an Aikido master, did an impressive Brazilian Jiu Jitsu demonstration in the mountains of North Carolina.  Performed in a private dojo, the video showcases the vast lands surrounding the Mountain Dojo, and leaves the viewer energized to follow the path to black belt for themselves.

Watch this video anytime for instant inspiration on your BJJ journey.
